Well, we're home now. I still have lots to upload (mostly videos) and pictures already uploaded that still need captions. I will get to all that either tonight or tomorrow (Tuesday).
If we haven't called you, please don't feel upset. Both mommy and baby have a ton of work to do, and once and a while they need me. We'll get to you when we can. Otherwise, feel free to call us at home (we will leave our TracFone off indefinitely from here on in). Actually, if you can wait to call until Tuesday or thereafter that would be best as Amy's grandparents are coming tonight and we won 't be able to talk much.
Before I forget, we really want to express our thanks for all the love, support, and 'congratulations' we've received from everyone.

Wait on the birth weight!
A couple of hours ago, a nurse came in and weighed Miri. She weighed in at 7 pounds and 14 ounces; one pound less than her birth weight. After reviewing the chart and talking with our pediatrician, she came to the conclusion that the scale must not have been calibrated correctly after Miri's birth. Our nurse considered that since Miri has been nursing (admittedly, she's taken to it somewhat slowly) and that she is pooping and peeing regularly, that the change in weight is not a result of weight loss. She simply thinks the scale was off.
Crazy, huh? So maybe she wasn't 2 ounces away from being a nine-pounder. Maybe she was just under 8.
I suspect we'll keep her no matter what her weight is. :-)

The following picture was taken minutes before we left the hospital. It says she weighed 7 pounds and 9.7 ounces. A few days later, our doctor decided - after concluding that Miri's original birth weight must have been off - to change her birth weight to 8 pounds, 4 ounces.

Aside from the fact that I was the cameraman, there are few pics of me because I purposefully avoided the camera. To be honest, I was embarrassed of the two massive zits I was sporting at the time! :-)

'Miri' is finally here
Well, she's finally here. 'Miri' was born at 2:41 (CST) here in Madison. As shown in the picture below, she came into this mad world weighing 8 pounds and 14.4 ounces. She was 20". As far as we can tell, she doesn't look like either of us. Although, she seems to have my long tongue (let's hope that's all she inherits from me!).
I'm not sure what other details are important. As you can imagine, we're both beat. I'll keep posting as we can, but it's bloody difficult to get the time to sort through videos and pics and edit them for the blog: there's always something that needs tending to.

Hang tight and be patient. If we haven't phoned you it's because we're beat (or it's simply because I really dislike talking on the phone...you can only be enthusiastic re-telling the birth story so many times!). Plus, we're running low on Tracfone minutes (it costs 2 or 3 times more per minute when calls are long distance!).
