A couple of hours ago, a nurse came in and weighed Miri. She weighed in at
7 pounds and 14 ounces; one pound
less than her birth weight. After reviewing the chart and talking with our pediatrician, she came to the conclusion that the scale must not have been calibrated correctly after Miri's birth. Our nurse considered that since Miri has been nursing (admittedly, she's taken to it somewhat slowly) and that she is pooping and peeing regularly, that the change in weight is not a result of weight loss. She simply thinks the scale was off.
Crazy, huh? So maybe she wasn't 2 ounces away from being a nine-pounder. Maybe she was just under 8.
I suspect we'll keep her no matter what her weight is. :-)
Updated 1/26/2008The following picture was taken minutes before we left the hospital. It says she weighed 7 pounds and 9.7 ounces. A few days later, our doctor decided - after concluding that Miri's original birth weight must have been off - to change her birth weight to 8 pounds, 4 ounces.
